Sensory Overload

i can hear every breath
every movement
every sound
i hear myself listen

i feel every muscle
i sense every tensing
i fear every breath
for the rising of my chest

i internalize every emotion
as if the world is not only on my shoulders
crushing my head
collapsing my legs
bringing a blanket of black to my eyes

i calm
i sit
i wait
i ponder
i take my mind off all the noise
just to be disappointed
staring at an empty room
